Bernard Mary Johnston, 88 of Springfield passed away February 28, 2014 at home. He was born February 25, 1926 in Smithville, Texas to Bernard Mary and Mary Ellen Williams Johnston. After proudly serving during WW II in the South Pacific, he worked as an engineer for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 45 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean Marlin Johnston of the home; his son, Randy Johnston and wife, Diane of St. Charles; and two grandchildren, Jordan and Julia Johnston. Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 11:00 am in Hazelwood Cemetery under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. No visitation is planned.
