Benny Jay Miller died peacefully at home after a short illness on January 28, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born on March 6, 1937 in Cabool, Missouri to Marion and Lucille (Wade) Miller. He graduated with the class of 1955 from Cabool High School. After graduation, he lived and worked in Cabool for a year before moving to Springfield, Missouri. There he attended Southwest Missouri State College and worked a short time for KY3. In 1959 he moved to Chicago area with his brother Tom. He completed a 5-year apprentice in Tool and Die at Vogel Tool and Die Corporation and continued working there for another 8 years. In 1964 he married Donna Leppig. In 1972 they decided to move back to Springfield, Missouri. Ben worked for Ozark Precision Products for 4 years and then went to work for Zenith Electronics in 1976 where he continued Tool and Die work for the next 18 years in the plastics division. As Zenith was closing down, Ben was offered employment at A.C. Buckhorn as the Tool and Die Manager. He worked there until his retirement in 2012. In 1998 he married Belinda and they made their home in Fair Grove, Missouri for the next 16 years. Benny was the most kind, compassionate, and patient man. In addition to his work, Ben loved watching and playing golf, fishing, woodworking and traveling to the many scenic destinations and national parks across the country with his wife Belinda. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Donna, brother Tom Miller, and brother-in-law Ron Leppig. In addition to his many friends, he is survived by his wife Belinda of the home; her two sons Brent Breshears of Springfield, Missouri and Chris Breshears of Fair Grove, Missouri; his sister-in-law Rosanna Miller of Tempe, Arizona; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; and Shiloh, his companion cat. Visitation will be Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, Missouri. Graveside services will be held Monday, February 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. in Cabool Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at gormanscharpf.com.
