Obituary

Barbara Toombs Wright, 93 of Springfield, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018.

She was born December 28, 1924 in Springfield to Jewel Cummings and Robert Lee Toombs.  Barbara graduated from Greenwood High School and attended University of Missouri.  She married Alfred W. Baldwin, Jr and they had two daughters.  In 1958 she met and later married Malcolm G. Wright of Springfield who also had two children.  They made a successful and loving blended family and enjoyed over 30 years together.

Barbara was a member of Junior League of Springfield, Christ Episcopal Church and volunteered at the Next to New store as well as the History Museum at the Bentley House where she contributed greatly with many recipes for the History Museum Cookbook.

Barbara enjoyed needle pointing, gardening, cooking and being a wife and mother.  She created a warm and loving home for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm; two brothers, Dave and Bryan Toombs; and her daughter, Ann Baldwin Kidd Hinson.

Barbara is survived by her children, M. Lloyd Wright (Martha), Ann's husband, Jerry Hinson, Susan Wright Salsitz (Robert) and Jennifer Jewel Baldwin; her beloved granddog, Teddy; grandchildren, Barbara Twijnstra Eby (Kyle), William Twijnstra, Mary Belle Wright, Rebecca Wright Medler (Andrew), Julie Salsitz Davi (Mike), and Ethan Salsitz (Laura Lee); six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jeanne Toombs; nephew, Robert Toombs (Valerie); niece, Sara Toombs Krutsinger (Dave).

The family would like to thank Heather and other staff with hospice and the staff at James River Care Center for their loving care and concern.

Memorial services and inurnment will be Friday, September 7, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Christ Episcopal Church with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
