Anna Brown Freeman, 79, of Springfield passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 19, 2014. Anna was born October 30, 1934 in Springfield to Harry Silsby Brown and the former Mary Margaret Holbrook. She was a graduate of Springfield Senior High and attended Drury University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She was a charter member of Pet Therapy of the Ozarks. She was also a life-long member of Christ Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, David Adams Freeman who died November 6, 2006. She is survived by her husband, Jim Freeman and son Bruce Freeman, both of Springfield; daughter Kate Etter and grandson Alex Etter of Joplin, Missouri; three brothers, Harry Brown Jr., M.D., Santa Barbara, California, Dick (Jenny) Brown, Seal Beach, California, and Tom (Carol) Brown, Cape Coral, Florida, her cousin Molly Patterson, Melbourne, Florida, and her beloved dogs Molly and Mandy. Services will be held at 11 am Monday, September 22, 2014 at Christ Episcopal Church, with the Reverend Kenneth L. Chumbley officiating, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pet Therapy of the Ozarks, P.O. Box 9462 Springfield, MO 65801, or to the American Cancer Society.
