Obituary

Ann "Petee" (Scarlett) Wilson, 85, Springfield, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 after a long illness. Our beloved mother was born May 17, 1928, the daughter of Esther H. Olson and E. L. Scarlett in Fargo, North Dakota. She spent many happy summers vacationing with family at their lake cabin in Minnesota. She enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, boating, swimming and horseback riding. Growing up she was fondly known as Petee by friends and family. Mom's later childhood years were spent in Springfield where she graduated from Central High School and held her first job at Frisco Railway. She eventually received her MBA from Drury in 1970 and became a passionate teacher, educator, and counselor of Computer Information Systems at Southwest Missouri State University. During her retirement years she thoroughly enjoyed attending auctions, collecting antiques, and RV travel. We will remember our mother as a strong-willed, independent woman who often said "the most important achievement in my life was raising my four children." She is loved and will be missed. Mom is survived by her four children; Jean Ann Schroff (Seattle), Deborah Lee Ray (Springfield), Mark A Wilson (Todos Santos, Mexico), and Grant P Wilson (Kansas City); a brother, Jerrold Scarlett (Jefferson City); 10 grandchildren; Amy (Riley) Lambert, Jennifer (Riley) Reskin, Christina Wilson, David Ray, Jennifer (Ray) Webster, Katie (Ray) Chittenden, Lauren Schroff, Grant Schroff, Andrew Wilson and Brian Wilson; and 16 great-grandchildren; Josephine Lambert, Anastasia Lambert, Elizabeth Lambert, Catherine Lambert, Genevieve Lambert, Sierra Reskin, Sligo Reskin, Madison Chittenden, Reagan Chittenden, Jackson Chittenden, Trenton Webster, Carter Webster, Riley Webster, Raymond Ray, and Haley and Jordan. A private burial service will be held at the Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Hospice Compassus, 1465 E. Primrose, Springfield, MO 65804.
