Alvin D. Womack, 83, of Springfield, MO was born August 21, 1928 in Marion, IL to A.E. and Mary Johnson Womack. He went to see Jesus on February 1, 2012 on the way to the doctor's office. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of the home, daughter Shirley Gordon (Dennis) of St. Croix, Virgin Islands; son, William Womack of Rogersville, MO; daughter Barbara Shreffler of Springfield, MO; Patti Womack of Wichita, KS; along with six grandchildren, Leah Wicker of Sapulpa, OK, Ashley and Joseph Shreffler of Springfield, Ben Shreffler of Norman, OK, Cassie and Jenny Womack of Springfield and two great-grandchildren Nathan and Avery Wicker of Sapulpa, OK. Alvin served two years in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed by B. F. Goodrich Tire Company in Quincy, IL for 17 years and a paint and wall paper contractor in Springfield for 35 years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of God Missions in Japan 8375 N. Broadway St. Louis, MO 63147. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm with funeral services Monday at 11:30am in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial with full military honors will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
