Alleta M. Hays, age 100, of Springfield, Missouri passed away at 11:25 a.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2012 in Mercy Hospital. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church for more than 45 years and was in the Mary and Martha Circle there which was the center of her social life. A wonderful 100th birthday celebration was held for her in March 2012 and it was a joy to see her pleasure during this event. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilfred B. Hays, all of her brothers and sisters and their respective spouses. She is survived by her son Charles W. Hays (Catherine), Moneta, VA; son Terrel G. Hays (Lynn), Ridgefield, CT. She had four grandchildren Tim, Brad, Catrina, Christa and five great-grandchildren Taylor, Madison, Riley, Chalise and Christophe. She had several special nieces and nephews including Iretha and Donald DeGood, Springfield, MO; Inez Nance, Enid, OK; Jean Hays, Scottsdale, AZ; and Jimmie and Ferne Hays, Grapevine, TX. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 20th, 2012 at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Reverend Michael R. Blacksher officiating, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church in Springfield, MO. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the Manor at Elfindale for their excellent care of their mother.
