Allen Keith Malcolm, 77, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at his home with family by his side. He was born on February 5, 1940 in Sikeston, MO to Pleasant Matthew Malcolm and Virginia Fern Malcolm (Sharp), both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Anne Malcolm and Martha Jane Bullard.
Allen graduated from Sikeston Senior High School in 1958 and the University of Missouri, with a degree in Accounting, in 1962. He served in the United States Marine Corps in 1961.
In 1969 Allen began a distinguished career with the United States Treasury Department. From 1969 to 1978 he was a Special Agent in the Kansas City office and, from 1978 to 1990 was the Special Agent in Charge of the Springfield Criminal Investigation office. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he also served in Florence, KY.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ries Malcolm (Shaffer), of the home. He is also survived by five children: Clinton Malcolm of Topeka, KS; Melinda Neiblum and her husband, Jeff, of New York, NY; Elizabeth Anne Herbig and her husband, Chris, of Overland Park, KS; and their mother Elaine Brown Malcolm of Springfield; Mary Leslie Hashbarger and her husband, Mike, of Chesterfield, MO; and, Brett Allen Malcolm and his wife, Julie, of Wildwood, MO; along with 15 beloved grandchildren.
His passion was his family, and he was never happier than when he was surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and many cousins. Thanksgiving family get-togethers were always a favorite of his.
Allen was an avid gardener and loved spending time at Table Rock Lake. He was a devoted Kansas City Royal fan as well as an ardent supporter of University of Missouri football.
The family will greet friends at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Messiah Lutheran Church at 925 E. Seminole in Springfield with the service, at 2:00 pm with Reverend Charles Buck presiding, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church or the American Stroke Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
