Alice A. Wendt, 81, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 15, 2009, after a long illness. She was born on July 14, 1927, to Albion and Susie (Bartee) House in Dallas County, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers; and sisters; husband, William G. "Bill" Wendt; and a special friend, Ray Doss. Alice was an active community member serving as President of Insurance Women of Springfield, Board Member of National Association of Insurance Women, President of Fast Break Council, Lady Bears of Missouri State University, President of Greene County Nursing and Care Center dba Greene Haven Nursing Home, President of Christian Women's Fellowship of Central Christian Church and also served as Deacon and Usher at Central Christian. Alice was a member of the Republican Central Committee for over 30 years and spent countless hours working for that organization. She is survived by two daughters, Willa Spears and her husband Richard, of Strafford, Mo., Wanda (Farless) Bolton of Springfield; grandchildren, Johnny Schmidt, Skip McConnell, Chris and Catherine Lee, Angie and Chad Clark, Shelley Spears, Sherry and Chance Potts, Stacey and Mark Kroutil; and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Maberry officiating. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery north of Buffalo, Mo. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
