Alice Caroline Dickens passed away Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Mercy Villa in Springfield, Missouri. She was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on September 25, 1923. Her parents were Antonio and Katherine Chiaro. Alice married Kermit Miller in 1946 who preceded her in death. She and their five children moved to Springfield in 1960 where she married her high school sweetheart, Walter Viebrock, who preceded her in death. Blending his family, hers, and theirs, they enjoyed many years of boating, camping, and attending multitudes of children's school activities. Alice loved her family and devoted her time, talents, and energies to them. Alice married Arley Dickens in 1977 who preceded her in death. Others to precede her in death were her parents, brothers, Richard and James Chiaro, and her daughter, Nancy Hindman. Survivors include her daughters, Kathie Jolly (Brian) of Green Mtn. Falls, CO, Joanne Haseltine (Jim) of Parrish, FL, Joyce Lake (Stephen) of Stilwell, KS, Pamela Astolfi (Glenn) of Apex, NC, her son, Kermit Miller (Julie) of Jefferson City, MO, her step-son, Walter Viebrock (Carolyn) of Redmond, WA, and her step-daughters, Sheila Lexner (Dave) of Dublin, PA, and Carol Logsdon (Rick) of Umatilla, FL. Additional survivors include her brother, Donald Chiaro (Madalen), and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was a long-time member of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole, Monday, March 30, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, 820 E.
