Alfred Anthony Monier of Springfield passed away on February 15, 2021, in Springfield, MO at the age of 88. Visitation will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield at 10:00 am with Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
Alfred was born on September 16, 1932 in Covington, LA to Robert Louis Monier, Sr. and Matilda Caroline Alcorn. He was the eighth of ten children. He was given the nicknames of Pete (how most people knew him) and Fritz.
Alfred served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War in the 1608 th Air Terminal Squadron as a firefighter. During his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
After leaving the Air Force, Alfred relocated to Springfield where he worked for the City of Springfield in the Public Works Department for 35 years. During his service he worked with the Maintenance Crew, the Parking Meter Shop, and the Sign Shop as a sign installer and retired as the sign fabricator.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, his only wife JoAnn Jones-Monier-Reagan, and all of his brothers and sisters; Evelyn Sherry, Eunice Cabral, Daniel Monier, Doris Boudreaux, Robert Monier, Jr., Rosemary Galatas, Audrey Mae Husser, Joseph Monier, and James Monier. He is survived by his son Randy Monier, daughter-in-law Maria Monier, grandson Matthew Monier, granddaughter-in-law Bethany Monier, Marcus Monier, great grandson Liam Monier, great grandson Brooks Monier, daughter Deborah Hosna, grandson Anthony Putney, granddaughter-in-law Cynthia Dailey, granddaughter Tabitha Ward, grandson-in-law Dwight Ward, granddaughter-in-law Kimi Baker, great granddaughter Chloe Baker, great granddaughter Chloe Dailey, great grandson Caleb Dailey, great granddaughter Mattie JoE Ward, great granddaughter Nevaeh Ward, great grandson Tristan Putney, and great grandson Thomas Putney. He is also survived by countless friends, neighbors, nieces, and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Marcus Monier, Matthew Monier, Randy Monier, Anthony Putney, Ernie Ruble, and Dwight Ward.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all those who have supported us during this time including extended family, friends, neighbors, and our co-workers. A HUGE thank you to the care team he had with Integrity Hospice to include his nurse Alison, bath aide Angee, social worker Lanay, and Chaplin Michael.
