Aleen Maloy Gregory, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the age of 80. Aleene was born on June 4, 1929 in Bolivar, Mo.; to Harvey and Irene Manes. She was the second of five children. She attended the Methodist Church in Bolivar and talked of her baptism in the creek there. She was united in marriage to Carl Roger Gregory on April 18, 1950 and together they had four children. Aleene was affectionately known as Mom-Mom, not just to her family , but to most anyone she met. Her kindness and generosity was evident to family, friends, and strangers alike. She had a special place in her heart for children and devoted most of her time to them. Mom-Mom's house was a favorite destination for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She taught Sunday school at Ebenezer Methodist Church during the 1960's. She was always busy and especially enjoyed being outdoors and took great pride in her yard work. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed making items for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; one older brother, Robert; one younger sister, Shirley; one younger brother, Carl Lewis; one daughter, Brenda; and one son-in-law, Walter. She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Roger; daughter, Linda and husband Ricky of Clinton, Mo.; son Roger and wife Verla of Pleasant Hope, Mo.; daughter Debbie of Fair Grove, Mo.; one sister, Gracie Lou of Dufur, Oregon; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation services are planned for Sunday, April 11, 2010 from 6 to 8 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole, Springfield, Mo. Graveside services will be held in New Hope Cemetery, at 2 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2010, on North Farm Road 167 in Pleasant Hope, Mo.
