IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alberto "Beto"
Barrientos
January 31, 1995 – February 21, 2026
Alberto "Beto" Barrientos, 31, entered his heavenly home on February 21, 2026, surrounded by his family and in the arms of his loving wife, following a short illness in the hospital. He was born in El Paso, Texas to Margarita Barrientos on January 31, 1995. In middle school, he began playing the guitarrón with the Lutheran mariachi band at San Pablo Lutheran Church, where he was given the opportunity to travel around the country, spreading the love of Jesus through mariachi music. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at San Pablo in 8th grade. He attended Eastwood High School in El Paso and graduated in 2013. He spent two years at Concordia University Texas before transferring to Concordia University Nebraska, where he graduated in 2017 with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business. He was introduced to Ashley Richter in 2017 through a mutual friend at Concordia Texas, and they began a great friendship. They quickly found that they had many common interests that they bonded over, especially their love of music. For their first date, Beto and Ashley traveled across Missouri to attend a Metallica concert at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. Beto moved back to Austin to be close to Ashley while she finished college, and then in June of 2018, while on a visit to see Ashley at her home in Springfield, Beto proposed to Ashley 500 feet underground inside Marvel Cave, at Silver Dollar City. They married on June 15, 2019 and built a life together in Springfield, where they were both actively involved in their church, first at Redeemer Lutheran, and then at Trinity Lutheran. Recently, Beto had the opportunity to get involved with a local mariachi, playing his guitarrón once again. Beto and Ashley loved spending time together attending shows, visiting Silver Dollar City, exploring new local restaurants, watching movies and TV shows, and just being together.
Beto was known by all who knew him for his kindness and his great love for his family and friends and anyone who needed help. He was also known for his quirky jokes and tongue twisters (particularly in Spanish), and for his amazing tacos. He loved music of many different genres and played several instruments, including guitarrón, tuba, and bass guitar. But most of all, he loved Ashley and his family–both biological and in-laws. He was especially proud to be the uncle of his niece, Mia. Beto will be tremendously missed by all who knew him.
Beto is survived by his wife, Ashley; mother, Margarita Barrientos of El Paso, Texas; sisters, Lizette Barrientos of El Paso, Texas, and Lilliana Lostroh (Michael) of Seward, Nebraska; niece, Mia Barrientos of El Paso, Texas; and many, many family and friends in both the United States and Mexico.
A memorial service for Beto will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Springfield, Missouri, with visitation from 1:00-3:00 pm and the service immediately following, at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ysleta Lutheran Mission – Mariachi San Pablo, El Paso, Texas and the Concordia University Nebraska music department.
