Obituary

Alan Parker Arnold, 83, passed away on Sunday, September 2nd, 2018.

Alan, the son of Cletis and Anna (Dickson) Arnold, was born in LaGrange, Wyoming on March 6th, 1935. Alan and Arlene Hahn were united in marriage on September 15th, 1956 in Torrington, Wyoming.  They shared over 61 years together.

Alan enlisted in the United States Army in 1957.  He served with the 26th Anti-Aircraft Artillary Group at Battery Headquarters, Fort Lawton, Seattle, Washington.  In 1958 he was promoted to SP4 as an Air Defense Artillery Operations and Intelligence Specialist.

Alan and Arlene's first child, Kenneth Wayne, was born on April 6th, 1959.  In May, Alan received an honorable discharge from the Army, and the young family traveled to Baker, Montana.  Alan resumed his job with Shell Pipeline Corporation working on the Butte Pipeline.

During Alan's 30 years with Shell, he and Arlene raised three sons, Kenneth Wayne, Carl Ervin, and Keith Alan. The family lived in several homes in Montana, Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Texas.  After retiring from Shell, Alan and Arlene bought a farm near Montevallo, Missouri where they lived for over 20 years, often spending winters at their lake house in Livingston, Texas.  During this time, Alan worked as a pipeline inspector and ran a small trucking operation. In 2011 Alan and Arlene moved to Nixa, Missouri.

Alan was a member of Countryside Christian Church in Nixa, Missouri, and Nixa Memorial Post 434 of the American Legion.

Alan is survived by his wife Arlene of the home; son Kenneth Arnold of San Rafael, CA; son Carl Arnold and his wife Kristy of Vernon County, MO; son Keith Arnold of League City, TX; granddaughter Joanna Arnold of Los Angeles, CA; sister Ruth Barnard of Cebu City, Phillipine Islands; brother Herman Arnold of Corpus Christi, TX, sister Sherry Miller of Fayetteville, AR; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Cletis and Anna Arnold of LaGrange, WY; brother Dewey Arnold of El Dorado Springs, MO; and sister Wilda Taylor of Tulsa, OK.

Visitation will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Countryside Christian Church, Nixa, MO. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM at the church with Reverend Rodney McCann officiating, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  Interment will begin at 2:00 PM the same day at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, Springfield.
