Aileen White (Cloud) Ege joined our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, November 1, 2013 when she passed away peacefully in Springfield, MO. She was 91 years old having been born January 6, 1922 in Ozark, Missouri after her parents, Everett and Elsa Cloud, drove the 10 miles from Highlandville in a horse and buggy. Aileen grew up in the rolling hills of the Ozarks in Highlandville, Missouri where the intermingling of Ozark persistence and Southern charm enriched the extraordinary accomplishments of her life. After moving to Springfield, she graduated from Springfield Senior High School then continued her education at Missouri Teacher's College and Missouri University concluding with a master's degree in biochemistry. She was a member of ADPi sorority and sang at the Gilloz Theater for "The Beauty with a Voice" weekly singing contest. She worked as a chemist for the Atlas Powder Company during World War II in St Louis and later taught biology and zoology at Southwest Missouri State College, Missouri State University, Central High School and Hickory Hills Junior High. Aileen met her future husband Bob Ege on a blind date. They married in November 1950 and raised two children, Eric and Elaine. Bob and Aileen were founding members of National Avenue Christian Church where Aileen taught Sunday school. Aileen's strong faith in the Lord and her enduring knowledge of the Bible drew her to further the teachings of Jesus through not only her daily life, but her many trips to Israel. Aileen was always ready to learn something new; gardening, flower arranging, tap dancing, cake decorating, Hebrew and German. She loved to entertain and was known for her gracious celebrations and her ever present charisma and charm. She was without question the consummate lady. Aileen was a cat lady. She always had a cat on her lap and strays always knew they could get a bite to eat on her porch. Cutie was of great comfort when her husband Bob passed away. Aileen was preceded in death by her husband Bob, and is survived by son Eric and his wife Lela of St Louis, daughter Elaine and her husband Jeff, grandson Eric Jr and his wife Terah and grandson Drew. We were truly blessed to have had her for a mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, cousin or friend and her unwavering love will always be cherished and never forgotten. Visitation will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield, MO. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM Wednesday, November 6, 2013 in the funeral home. Burial will be held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO.
