IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Agnes C.
Fenske
October 28, 1928 – April 25, 2023
Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, Agnes Fenske passed away peacefully on April 25, 2023, at the age of 94. She was the daughter of Tony and Mary (Francka) Kroutil and the sister of Emma Polodna (deceased). Agnes was born near Brighton, MO, and her early education was 8 years at a country school called Lee and then high school in Morrisville, MO.
Shortly after marrying her best friend, Lawrence (Larry) Fenske, on May 17, 1952, the young couple lived in Peoria, IL for a short time and then moved to Springfield, MO, where they lived for most of their 70 years of married life. Agnes is survived by her dear family, who meant the world to her. Her husband, Lawrence Fenske; children, Anita Stansfield (Mike Stansfield); Mary Jane Barnett (Larry Barnett); Dennis Fenske (Therese Fenske) and Rita Gibson (Kyle Gibson). Her 11 dear grandchildren: Lori Bannwarth, Amy Sanger, Lyndsy Wolfe, Sarah Stansfield, Stephen Stansfield, Bridget McKiernan, Christopher Fenske, Melissa Fenske, Jacob Gibson, Matthew Gibson, and Molly Gibson; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Agnes is remembered for her kind and gentle ways. When family came to visit, especially as her grandchildren became older, she always made time to talk with them and hear about their jobs or schooling. She was an exceptional cook, and her family has fond memories of the wonderful aromas that greeted when you came to grandma's house on Sundays. Agnes also had quite the green thumb and thoroughly enjoyed her garden, and she passed that love on to her children.
A celebration of life of Agnes Fenske will be held Monday, May 1, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 3555 South Fremont, Springfield, MO 65804. Visitation at 10:00 AM, with Mass to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Springfield, MO. Masses preferred.
