A. Reese

October 2, 1949 – November 12, 2020
(Alan) Reese Mason, 71, of Ash Grove, Missouri, passed away in Springfield, MO, on November 12, 2020, after a brief illness.
Reese was born to Glen and Dottie (Dot) Mason on October 2, 1949. Reese attended high school in Miller, MO, and graduated in 1967.
After high school, he attended Southwest Missouri State College, then enlisted in the Air Force Reserve and stationed at Richards-Gebaur AFB. Returning to Springfield, Reese transferred to the Army National Guard and served the remainder of his enlistment.
In Springfield, Reese joined the St. Louis - San Francisco Railway (FRISCO) in 1970 serving as a Fireman and Brakeman then finished his career in 1994 as a Conductor for the BNSF Railway. Reese was also employed by Bass Pro Shops and operated a small lawn care business but eventually settled into retirement working cattle on the land he grew up on.
Reese enjoyed the outdoors; training dogs, hunting, fishing and field trialing are just a few of the passions he enjoyed. An accomplished horseman, Reese competed in team roping and spent many years appreciating the scenic trails of Eminence, MO. Reese was always ready for the next adventure with Alyx his drahthaar by his side.
Reese is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Dot, and a brother, Max Mason.
A sister, Sandra Kay (Mason) Chase and husband, Colonel Michael T. Chase, USARet, and a brother, Larry B. Mason and his wife, Nancy (Frazier) Mason, survive.
Reese is survived by his former wife Anne (Cotner) Rundberg, their son Clint Alan Mason and his wife, Leigh Ann Mason.
He is also survived by Larence Brett Mason and his mother, Kay (Leitterman) Mason, of Springfield, MO.
The grandchildren are Emily Marie Vander-Loop, Gabriel Alan Mason, Finn Alan Mason and Brock Van Alan Mason; three great-grandchildren, Ona Kay Shultz, Owen Alan Mason and Ella Lynn Mason.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at the Rock Prairie Cemetery, Halltown, MO., under the direction of the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
